Yasumasa Morimura (born in Osaka in 1951) is known for his self-portrait series in which the artist himself replaces those depicted in various masterpieces of art history. After the release of the introduction: MORIMURA: Chapter 1: A kind of introduction, the first part of a trilogy that chronicles his multiple activities, the second part is the "Archive". This archive is composed of his important exhibitions the last decade which of four includes his commentaries recorded on the occasion of the screenings in public. Even the slide show of his works presented in those exhibitions. This film features his exhibition "Morimura Yasumasa: Self-Portrait as Art History" hold at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo in 1998 and his narration and commentary recorded to the side of the movie screen at the Kyoto Cinema in 2006.
